Lead General Practitioner

Our client, a leading primary health organisation, is seeking a General Practitioner to step into a dual role as Waikato GP Lead. This unique position combines clinical practice with leadership responsibilities, offering the chance to provide patient‑centred care while shaping the future of primary healthcare across the Waikato district.

About the Role:

You will work 7-10 sessions per week, with one session dedicated to leadership alongside the Clinical Director. In your clinical role, you’ll deliver safe, culturally responsive, holistic care to patients of all ages. As GP Leader, you’ll provide guidance and support to the wider clinical workforce, contribute to quality improvement programmes, and help develop innovative models of care across the network.

Key Focus Areas:

• Provide timely, high‑quality primary care services in practice and virtually
• Collaborate with nursing and allied health teams to improve patient outcomes
• Support palliative care, including occasional home visits
• Lead on referral guidelines, clinical pathways, and integration of services
• Build strong relationships with hospital specialists, management teams, and GP colleagues

About You:

• Vocationally NZ Registered GP with current APC and indemnity insurance
• Minimum four years post‑registration experience
• Strong communication and relationship‑building skills
• Strategic thinker with commitment to continuous quality improvement
